We are back in the Eastern time zone and remembering what it's like to have our church's General Conference on so late. This morning we had a window of time before the storms rolled in to go for a family walk. We walked around the ponds behind our house and along the farmer's field directly behind us. Then, in a small pine tree at the edge of the cornfield, I noticed some straw poking out of one of the low lying branches. It was only about two feet off the ground, so we didn't think it was a bird nest. When I moved the branch, a little deer mouse jumped out and ran up the trunk of the tree. Here is a picture of the mouse nest:
And here is the mouse trying to hide against the trunk of the tree.
Once back home, we all gathered to the kitche to make our traditional Sunday morning Conference crepes.
And here they are ready to attack the spread. We had a good indication that the boys were excited when we found them drawing pictures of crepes and all of the different things they were going to put in them earlier in the day. They must have each eaten a half-dozen crepes, filled with every combination of fillings imaginable.

how weird to have conference on so late!
we also ate our traditional conference crepes, but luckily i didn't have to make them this time since kristy is here! i happily passed the crepe pan to her and her expertise!
We too enjoyed our traditional big conference breakfast!! Your Crepe's look so yummy:) I remember running to safety during hail storms when walking home from picking Ben up from school while living in Nashville and Nick was still small enough to ride in the stroller:)
Conference was great this year, but we sadly don't have any crepe traditions. That's ok, though, because Lauren eats her version of crepes (swedish rolled up pancakes) just about twice a week for breakfast.
Anyway, we love you guys! Great conversation today, Joe.
