Garden Update

Tonight we took some pictures of the garden. We are amazed that it has endured no less than three torrential storms, including one with below freezing temperatures, sleet and hail.

The proud gardener.

Charles also planted some radish seeds last fall that just ripened after sitting dormant all winter. We harvested this one, washed it, and cut it in half for the boys to share. They both said they liked the raw radish, but their faces looked completely grossed out. When I asked if they wanted another one, Charles said "no thanks," and Joey said "that's too spicy."

Here is a picture of the verbena in the backyard. It too went dormant for a while and we weren't sure if it would come back, but it's already bigger than it was last year.

Tori was enjoying being outside with us for the photo session.

Hey, look at that corn'a. (I'm not sure how we would spell that Kewishism.) And,Charles is looking so grown up.
I love the lone radish and I can just see the boys trying so hard to like that radish that they grew. They will be happier with the other things, for sure. What a pretty our Tori is. Thanks for the update!

The garden is looking great. I once planted lots of radish with my Kindergarten kids. Then we had a radish party. Most of the kids had the same response yours did. They were so proud of growing them they really WANTED to like them, but no they realy hated them. Our principal came in and made the mistake of saying she loved radish. All I can say is I hope she could see her desk above the huge pile we left her:)

Those are wonderful pictures!!!! I love them! That is a funny story...made me giggle.

You have good gardeners on your hands if you can grow things through that rough weather! The boys must be proud of themselves!

Well, I think the stuff is growing *despite* the boys' efforts. It's a wonder how lots of rain and lots of sun fixes everything.
