Well, another Halloween is in the books in the Kewish home.
The boys went as Captain Hook and Peter Pan and Tori went as Tinkerbell. All Charles wanted to do was stay home and pass out candy and all Joey wanted to do was run to as many houses as possible to "get more candy." After only about 30 minutes of trick-or-treating, Charles was asking to go home and Joey was arguing that they hadn't gotten enough candy yet.
However, when Charles *did* trick-or-treat, he did very well. Last year I was disappointed at the number of suckers they grabbed from bowls full of chocolate, so I told Charles tonight to make sure he looked for peanut M&M's (my favorite). He took me so seriously that when the people would answer the door and grab some candy to put in his bucket, he would hold it back and say, "um, let me pick the candy." Then as he walked down the driveway he would yell, "Dad! I got some more M&M's for you!"
I kept telling the boys "remember, no suckers!" In fact, when one woman tossed a sucker into Charles' bucket before he could stop her, he spun around and urgently yelled to me "Dad!! She put a sucker in my bucket!" I let that one slide, but I did tell the boys that I would probably throw away any suckers they got. Does that make me a bad parent? Maybe. . . but it's worth it.

Totally hysterical! Maybe we should have Charles and Lauren trick-or-treat together next year -- she only lasted ONE block before she said she wanted to go home. Mean mother that I apparently am, I made her push on to get a few more full sized candy bars. :o)

The kids look so great! I absolutely love their costumes and that they are a theme too. You and Liz should have been Darling & Jim Dear (or whatever the parents names are in Peter Pan). Tori is the cutest Tink!
And Inez was totally "beedie, beedie, beedie" with Joey tonight because she wanted to trick or treat even though she was freezing—candy was more important than anything. Then some man said to her, "you're going to freeze to death!" and she came back to me at the edge of the driveway almost in tears that she was going to die. I could have strangled him.
Those are awesome costumes! Did you guys get them online? I've heard a lot of people doing that since most of the store costumes are cheap. I love Tori in the last picture. Its the perfect pose for Tink. Oh wait maybe she should have a harness and be sliding across a rope from Matterhorn :) That's funny about the suckers and M&Ms I can totally seeing Charles doing that. Ashley learned the hard way not to let the kids pick the candy themselves from the bowl after some kids took huge handfulls and so what do you do? You can't say "HEY! Give that back or don't take that much!" Especially if their parents are right behind them. I wore Dad's classic mask when I answered the door and poor Gwen hated it everytime I put it on she would totally start crying!
Everyone looks so cute! We are not into Halloween anymore, I guess thats what happens when your kids get old! We are not old of course so maybe we will just go ourselves next year so we can collect some chocolate taxes:)
Seriously, those are the cutest costumes *ever*, love those cute kids! And, how bummed am I that you guys are all themed? That's what I wanted to do - but the rest of the fam wouldn't cooperate - stinkers!
Joe, we had to "coach" Savvy on the importance of getting chocolate and avoiding sweet tarts, gum and lolly pops too. Otherwise most of the candy would have ended up in the trash and that is just totally wasteful right!?
oh my goodness, they truly couldn't be cuter! i too love the theme. i think it's nice when you can somewhat steer them into what they should be. my kids are here and there on whether they should listen to me and my halloween ideas. they are sooooo cute. yes, especially your girly girl. :)
