This morning we all went to McAllister Park here in San Antonio for a race. The boys were excited about running, even if they were a little wary of their previous race experience (see previous post). Joey seemed to remember this last race well, since while we were driving to the park this morning, he said out of the blue, "Charles, the bear's not there."
The boys ran the kids race (about 60 meters) and didn't do too badly. They were both happy to report that they had both beaten Liz, although I'm not sure Liz was really trying. Once they finished, they kind of had a "that's it?" look on their faces, so I told them they could run it again if they wanted. They went ahead and ran it again, and again, and again, as can be seen in these videos.
They also were very excited to receive ribbons AND medals. Here are a few pictures of the proud participants. Liz will not want this made public, but she also ran the 3 miler, and did pretty well, exceeding her goal. Also, there are two Tori pics at the bottom.
Joey is rocking the Bruce Jenner look with his hair (which was chopped tonight, by the way)
Holding their ribbons on the finish line.
Action shot of I think maybe the 6th or 7th iteration of the race.
Tori is better and better at sitting these days. Especially when Liz makes her do the splits.
I think in this picture she is determined to grab the camera. Either that or Liz is blowing in her face.

Yes first one to comment! That never happens. Anyways those are cute pics of Tori and funny that the boys totally remembered the scarring bear mascot. At least it was just a bear and not the sasquatch that we saw up in the mountains!
Cute pictures! What a bear?-he's not there! Maybe that's not how they said it on SNL. My memory is foggy... By the way sasquatch is totally misunderstood and needs to be put ont he endangered list.(Did anyone see the news story about the lawyer to really wants to do this?)
Dude, Jon, that's not funny. What I never told you was that I had planned to try to scare you just for fun (my fun, not yours) and then right when I remember to do it, I swear I see a hairy 9-foot creature come out of the trees into the clearing where our car was parked (and was the BUG for crying out loud!). All because we wanted to try to catch some salamanders at Box Lake so we could sell them to the pet store.
Carol, I laughed out loud at your post. I didn't even catch the similarity when I titled the post. Then, thanks to the power of the internet, I did a quick search and found the transcript!!! I'm saddened to see that it is not yet on YouTube, but comforted in knowing that it is only a matter of time. Also, I had forgotten the title of the sketch, which was "The Nude House of Wacky People." Here is the link--so many details that I had forgotten!

That lawyer then must have also seen Sasquatch like Joe and I. That transcript is so crazy it makes me laugh! This is so unusual, I might have to lose my mind! Of course the classic "A bear? How did he get there?" hahaha or as Chris Farley (Confucius, in the Fortune Cookie Factory sketch) would laugh, ho hee ha hee ho hee har he har hee ho hee har hee. That's one of my favorites too.
Congratulations to all the Kewish runners!!!! I think the trophy should go to Tori for her balancing act!

Maybe Joe can help them out with verification? I loved the transcript about the bear...classic
oh my gosh, i had forgotten so much of that sketch! i would love to track that down because mike myers as the japanese movie exec makes the sketch as funny as it is, so to be able to hear him say all those things in his japanese accent would be hilarious.
"you cannot have hamburgers or candy canes until you do your homework!" "But we have no homework," say the children. "No homework?" Says the wacky father, "Then you will have to fight the bear!"
so random. yet so funny.
the kids are so cute running in the race! and liz, you are SO skinny.
I love the baffled look at the end of the first race...they seem so surprised that it is over. Funny!
Okay, I know this post was mostly about the boys (who are of course adorable). But how stinking cute is Tori?!! What a little cutie. I want to squeeze her cute little cheeks and give them a big smooch.
Plus, you know that I heart baby headbands! :)
Such a cute family!
