We've arrived (but not our stuff...)

Our apologies for the lack of posts lately. As some of you may know, we are in the middle of a transition between cities--moving from San Antonio to Indianapolis. I started a new job at Buckingham about six weeks ago and we finally made the move this past weekend.

While our stuff is somewhere between Texas and here (we hope), we actually rolled into town late last night. It was an easy and largely uneventful trip across much of our great nation. We got away from San Antonio a little late on Saturday but still managed to make it all the way to Little Rock, including a stop to visit our good friends the Stanworths in Dallas. It's so nice to have friends where, no matter how much time passes, you always feel comfortable. We wish we could live closer to them sometime.

We spent the night in Arkansas (State motto: No shirt, no shoes, no problem!) and had to compete for breakfast with a very messy-haired soccer team. It was strange fighting over powdered eggs with a bunch of Zac Efron clones, but we managed. The second day we made a quick detour into Memphis to see one of my old projects and then worked our way up the Mississippi river valley, across Illinois, and into the Circle City.

This morning we took the kids over to our new house and they were very excited. The new house earned an assessment of "great" from each of the boys, and they have already picked out their rooms. Tori has already discovered the ubiqitous Canadian Geese that inhabit our neighborhood and swim in the ponds behind and across from our house. When she first saw them today on the pond, she yelled "HEY CHICKENS...BAWK BAWK BAWK BAWK". . . close enough.

We are staying in my corporate apartment for now and are hoping we hear from the moving company sometime soon. But we are here, together again. We still have a bunch to do to get settled, and will catch up on our posts later, but are doing great and excited about this next chapter in the Midwest.

Good to hear you guys are there safe and it sounds like your stuff is close behind from what you said on the phone the other day Joe, maybe that was wishful thinking hahaha. That's funny about Tori bawking at the geese. Were the boys disappointed to not find any worms and spiders? They might still find spiders of course hahaha

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.

Cosbys--especially for all the help you gave us on our way out of town.

Jon--we definitely found spiders. Liz is not amused. Luckily the basement was just built out and is very nice and new, new carpet, etc.

Liz is now unpacking all the boxes she packed singlehandedly. The movers happened to lose the hardware for Tori's crib and Joey's bed, so we're down two beds, but still getting close to actually beign able to sleep in our house instead of our corporate apartment. Still no internet at home, but we'll be connected soon enough.

Welcome to the midwest! We definitely don't envy the next few weeks (and months) you'll spend settling in but I'm sure you'll find adventure in it! We should get together soon!

Glad to hear you are there safe and sound and that your 'stuff' arrived. Perhaps you will find the parts to the beds in a very unusual box sometime.
I'm excited for you to have a real autumn!
Miss you all already!
